For 346 days, Ukrainian soldier Serhii Krynitskyi lived and fought from a hand-dug underground shelter on the deadliest edge of the frontline, known as the ‘kill zone’, near Chasiv Yar. He kept a video diary, documenting his struggle to survive while being hunted by enemy drones. Both the comrades he was stationed with were killed defending the position. Russian-installed authorities declared a state of emergency in Crimea on Friday, as repeated, intensified Ukrainian strikes on the peninsula lead to widespread power outages and fuel shortages.
