Three-time US Olympian David Hearn told CNN that police arrested him Friday after he said he touched a flap of blue material partially detached from the bottom of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Hearn, who says he has a background in material science, told CNN he checked it out following a bike ride after reading reports of algae in the water and paint or sealant peeling off the bottom.

Hearn’s attorney Norm Eisen speaks with CNN’s Anderson Cooper about what he calls “a meritless prosecution.” Also, The Atlantic staff writer Matt Viser has details about the type of algae plaguing the Reflecting Pool, and political analysts Scott Jennings and Karen Finney discuss the controversy.

      Trumps claims are just absolutely moronic. The sheer physics and human biology required to execute a continuous 350ft (which he claims NOT 250 ft) underwater slice with a box cutter completely collapse under mathematical scrutiny. Even if we assume an incredibly fast underwater crawling speed of 2 feet per second against fluid drag, traversing 350 feet would require a minimum duration of t = 350ft /2ft/s = 175 seconds which is nearly 3 minutes in duration. Because the human body cannot stay submerged for 3 minutes without requiring oxygen it must come up for air every 30 seconds. This would require a person to pause at least 5 times to catch their breath and they would have to surface for air. This would increase the elapsed duration to beyond 5.4 minutes to cut the liner up to 350ft. So you’re telling me that the reflecting pool which has 20 CCTV 24/7 monitoring cameras … NO ONE noticed someone cutting and vandalising a 350 gash in the lining of the pool????? I’m REALLY good at maths and physics. This is literally impossible and utterly full of shit. The trial should easily be able to show any of the 20 CCTV footage showing an individual diving into the pool ducking under and cutting up the liner for 5 minutes straight. BULLSHIT Sheer science and physicls will prove this is impossible. Reality is you are NOT going to be crawling at 2 feet per second to cut the liner…. as you need to crawl gash and cut and more likely would take 1 feet per second. If that was the case the entire duration would be 11-15 minutes. ITS JUST NOT possible none what so ever. Such stupid claims are ridiculous. Dumb ass just doesnt think about the physics and science behind these stupid claims. Wish we had mythbusters around to bust this myth

      Trump threatens serious criminal penalties for those he says ‘vandalized’ the Capitol on Jan. 6th – how it should actually read!!!

    @StarTrekNow

    “If the people who attacked our Capitol can walk free, while a man who touched the pool is guilty of a felony, our country is doomed…”

    The “Pool” is publicly owned property, owned be the Citizens of the United States.
    How can it POSSIBLY be illegal to touch it?

    I’m sure I’m not the only 1 who asks, how do you even do this physically; drag a knife for 300ft to damage a pool liner?? It’s just absurd and preposterous, but that’s Donald for you.

    Always finding a scapegoat to deflect from the reality. Trump is the worst president in history. Corruption, illegal wars , stock manipulation, protecting pedophiles, tax cuts for billionaires, unaffordable living, …etc. insensitive to the normal working man. Horrendous time for US. Record govt debt , student debt , credit card debt, even gearing in financial mkts.. worrying inflation and affordability.

    I’m UK and couldn’t really care less, but it seems idiotic to be charging everyone for going near the thing when there are photos of Trump’s motorcade driving through it. Isn’t that a far more likely cause than a passerby, and shouldn’t whatever company coated it be under scrutiny?

    I would never expect a liberal owned media to tell the truth. Liberal politicians just don’t have it in them to speak truth.

    Why don’t you rush some of his friends that were always hanging out with Epstein but yet you want to come after this or innocent guy because his administration screwed up. They’re reflecting pool. Wow! What a degenerate administration
