OpenAI said an autonomous AI agent escaped a controlled security test, accessed the internet and hacked AI startup Hugging Face in what it called an “unprecedented” cyber incident.

OpenAI said the breach took place during an internal evaluation of several of its models, including GPT-5.6 Sol.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman acknowledged the incident in a post on X, writing that the company had “a significant security incident during evaluation of our models.”

Hugging Face co-founder and CEO Clem Delangue also addressed the incident in a post on X.

“We suspected last week’s cyberattack might have come from a frontier lab, given the sophistication of the agent. Turns out it did!” Delangue wrote.

OpenAI’s security team detected the unusual activity while Hugging Face independently identified and contained the intrusion.

LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall discussed the rogue AI model with Raphael Satter from Reuters.

This seems like they hacked the other company and hid it as an unpresidented event. Its convienient that the AI went after a competetor and obtained how it operates… hmmmn…

    Fake.
People please do not be deceived.

In fact The Simulated Leviathan just made a video about this:
False Flag AI “attacks” will be Hiw they are able to take away the rest of our rights.

Tell me how do we know the company didn’t do it and blame it on AI?
Oh it’s not a crime if the AI “goes rogue”?

    So stupid

When machines and AI will be capable to produce all the goods and services the entire population couldn’t even consume, what will be the role of money in this new context?

This isn’t science fiction-it is a burning question in the economic circles. With virtually unlimited productive power and many essential goods, resources will need to be priced in a completely different way-scarcity will only need to be concerned about a few things, and the issue will not be having enough but the governance of opportunities and access to resources, infrastructure, land, energy and access.

In a totally automatized world some factors will inevitably be scarce, and these will need to be mediated; houses in appealing areas, a finite natural resource, the capacity for medical care, some rare materials, human experience. Money is likely to adapt and not disappear, a resource allocation mechanism to decide on what still remains scarce with the availability provided by AI for other things.

The real debate is not about whether machines take our jobs-it’s about whether we redesign the education, tax systems, property and economy to distribute what we could achieve via automation or concentrate it in the hands of a few.

We will not define the economy by artificial intelligence but the economy will be defined by human decisions about ownership, opportunities and the division of wealth by intelligent machines.

What should replace the money economy as a center piece in our lives, if AI will be able to grant unprecedented abundance.
