On June 10, 2016, 30-year-old Alyssa Romine-Olson was found floating face down in a pond at the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch in Gilbert, Arizona. Within hours, a narrative began to take shape. The headlines focused on Alyssa’s health struggles, her recent separation from her husband, and her mental health.
