John Amato, Jr. has taken over an old-school Jersey deli from his dad and uncles. John is the owner of Fiore’s House of Quality in Hoboken, an institution that’s been around since 1903. Fiore’s is known for its homemade mozzarella, as well as its Italian deli sandwiches featuring meats like mortadella, gabagool, and prosciutto. Staying true to his family’s original recipes, John’s philosophy is to keep things feeling like they did in the 50s: same recipes, same friendliness, and same vibes.

필리핀 여자를 아내로 맞이하고 가족의 일원으로서 받아 들인 것도 멋지고
자기 딸을 서양인 가족으로 보낸 것도 대단한 아버지네요.

I asked for a lb of oval spiced ham. They said we only have square but we can knock the corners off😅. That’s an old time deli joke. Fiore’s Deli is one of the best in the USA.

The story of his father isn’t just a “back then” issue. This is happening still, every day, mostly on our southern border. Just normal people searching for a better opportunity for them and their families. It’s a shame we look to one group so differently than another in our country.

Right, but Italians were discriminated against when they got to New York. Irish too.
They didnt get handouts. They learned the language and assimilated.

I was a cop back in the early 60’s, every three weeks working the day shift and on one of those days, I’d look forward to having a sandwich for lunch from Fiore’s. I moved away some 50 years ago, but to this day I still remember and remark about the best sandwiches I’ve ever had were from the store. Almost all had that mozzarella on. They used to have homemade sausage like none other, too.

Corned beef in an Italian deli sounds strange but it must be really good if they keep making it, I love these very old school shops

Im sure it’s great, there are lines and it looks awesome..but the title is misleading a bit. There’s a deli in nyc that is top dog..defontes brooklyn is #1
