We’re Still Gonna Boycott Jay Z – Marlon Wayans Interview

Marlon Wayans and George Lopez headline Big Boy’s Comedy Fiesta show at the Palms in Las Vegas. Come see the show!!

In this interview on Big Boy TV, Marlon Wayans joins Big Boy dressed up for a golf lesson, kicking off a playful conversation about his recent obsession with golf, chasing perfection, and his tendency to always look the part even as a beginner.

The discussion transitions into Marlon’s approach to stand-up comedy and how his material has evolved over time. Rather than relying on low-hanging fruit or observational commentary, he explains that he draws humor from personal vulnerability, therapy, and real-life pain, tracing that progression across his specials—from discussing fatherhood in Woke-ish, to his public mistakes in You Know What It Is, to addressing grief and the loss of his parents in Good Grief. He highlights the distinction between simply being funny and mastering the craft of stand-up, reflecting on how he deliberately started over in small clubs and pizza shops despite his box-office success. Marlon also cites his brother Damon Wayans as his biggest comedy hero, admiring his stage command, physicality, and fearlessness.

From there, Big Boy and Marlon joke back and forth about Jay-Z, playfully revisiting their running joke about never being invited to the Roc Nation brunch and Marlon teasing Big Boy for secretly attending Jay-Z’s concert in New York. The conversation spirals into hilarious banter about travel habits, bathroom etiquette on flights, and public restrooms. Marlon wraps up by recounting stories from his childhood and sharing details about his upcoming stand-up tour dates and comedy shows in Las Vegas and California.
