Live tributes are pouring in after country music legend Dolly Parton died after facing a “brief battle” with cancer, according to her publicist. A statement released Tuesday said Parton “departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones.” She was 80 years old.

Many years back I got to meet her at Dollywood. She was walking around the park. She and I laughed because I am shorter then her by a half inch. But the same age. I commented that she should feel tall standing next to me and we burst out laughing. Because most times only children are shorter then us. Her presence made this world better and her singing made us happy. It turn bad days into good days. Rest in Peace Dolly. May the good lord hold you in his arms and comfort you.
