I get where prolifers are coming from—yes, every life is precious. But there’s a line. If we prioritize the rights of an unborn fetus over a living, breathing person, who’s really being hurt? Imagine you already have four kids, you’re careful to avoid pregnancy, but you end up pregnant anyway. If you’re forced to carry that pregnancy to term, it could seriously mess up your life. Your existing kids suffer, your marriage might be at risk, and even if you consider adoption, you face a lot of tough choices. How do you think the kid who go adopted is going to feel when they found out you kept all their siblings except them? That’s going to hurt even if it’s just subconsciously.

A fetus won’t understand any of this. It doesn’t know it’s causing problems, but the woman carrying it does. She’s the one facing real life issues and should be able to make the best decision for her situation.

Why should a woman be punished for making a choice that’s best for her and her family? If men could get pregnant, this wouldn’t even be an issue—abortion would be as easy as taking aspirin. The real question is why we’re so focused on dictating choices for others rather than respecting their personal decisions. Everyone should have the right to decide what’s best for themselves without unnecessary punishment. No one can convince me that a fetus, before fetal viability, (around 24-28 weeks) has more power over a women who is already here dealing with life. If youre having an abortion at those later stages, it’s likely because of medical complications. Everyone I’ve ever met who wanted one got one from 2-12 weeks. So the whole “they feel it” is still so invalid. They will NEVER understand what is happening to them, or let’s say i entertain the thought that they do- they WONT remember. Do you guys remember the pain of falling on your knees for the first time? No? So why’re we even using that as a reason! It genuinely feels like a war on women. Sounds like people who have the privilege of never having to make this choice to me.
