The Doctor breaks the TARDIS free from a web-like substance in space and lands in a London Underground station. Lurking in the tunnels are the Yeti and a poisonous web of expanding fungus. The Doctor believes the Great Intelligence is behind the crisis, but what does this have to do with a Professor Travers?
The original 1968 master recording of episode 3 was lost soon after the programme’s original transmission. However, audio-only recordings have survived and have been used to create a brand new fully animated reconstruction of the missing episode.
First Broadcast between the 3rd February – 9th March 1968
Starring Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor alongside Frazer Hines (Jamie McCrimmon), Deborah Watling (Victoria Waterfield) and Nicholas Courtney (Colonel Lethbridge-Stewart)

It was funny how in that older episode (Tomb of the Cybermen S5E1) Victoria was worried her skirt was too short. Now (The Web of Fear S5E5) she’s all in a mini skirt decked out like a hippie (7:00) and is fine with it. ☺
Patrick Troughton was absent from large portions of The Web of Fear (specifically during the recording of episode 2) because he took a pre-planned week-long holiday during the production, necessitating scripts that focused on the supporting cast.
I’m just happy they didn’t use the color version of the animation
The longer I have watched all the classic Who’s the more my admiration has grown for each individual Doctor. At first I stayed with my fave episodes but the fact of the unique change in the main actor makes for infinite interest. After Peter Capaldi it doesn’t exist though😁
I didn’t realize Lethbridge Stewart was introduced so early in the show
While I need some warming up to the recreated footage, it’s really well done, and I’m ultimately very grateful for the effort.
2:12:38 this is probably what your looking for
I think the artists for South Park may have been a better choice for animation replacements than this lot
And what difference does it make that Victoria mentioned the TARDIS ? It’s locked isn’t it?
