Cars floating in water, roads turned into rivers A series of severe thunderstorms accompanied by extreme rainfall has triggered widespread flash flooding across several major cities in New Jersey. Urban areas such as Paterson, Harrison, Fair Lawn, Jersey City, and Hoboken were among the hardest hit after rainfall rates reaching 1 to 2.5 inches per hour completely overwhelmed local drainage infrastructure.
