Moon or Mars? One could save humanity, the other might doom it. In this video, we dive into the pros and cons of building a colony on the Moon versus Mars, from gravity and water ice to dust storms and psychological effects. NASA says Moon first, but is Mars our real future? Watch and decide.

Moon first… we need a nearby base for mission staging.

      Next… Venus.

It has an atmosphere and heat, along with reasonable gravity… we just need to build a floating city sized base platform that will float roughly 25 to 35 km above the surface, where the temperature and gravity is actually similar to earth’s… the main issue is preventing the corrosion from the acidic atmospheric compounds.

After this… Titan may be a better choice over Mars, with it’s much higher gravity.

    well that’s a stupid question.
Of course we should go to the Moon first. its a no brainier. We have even found the best place on the Moon to make a colony: Shackleton Crater
Look all colonies goes though 3 phases:
1 Exploration: we just plant the flag and leave (done on the Moon in 1969)
2 Outpost: we have a permanent base, but it is dependent on upkeep from the host (is a net drain) and only official from the host country live there. (on the south Pole this was completed in 1956 and named after the first two men to reach the point in 1912)
3 Colony: this is when the outpost grow beyond a reserch station, takes on civilians and becomes self sufficient.
It no longer requires upkeep but can on the contrary deliver resources back to the host.

Once a moon base have reached stage 3 we can go to Mars, Titan, Europa and other interesting worlds from the Moon, as it will be much cheaper then sending the rockets from Earth

    To paraphrase from Pulp Fiction

The Moon and Mars ain’t the same fucking ballpark, it ain’t the same league, it ain’t even the same fucking sport.
