yeah it is great to see these old videos. I’m binging heavily on old sci fi movies lately. The news of Artemis missions lately gave me a craving to see what people expected of space flight before Gemini and Apollo.

For 1951, this wasn’t bad. It’s in color! The production, sets, and costumes were pretty good. I wish they had made the Martians visually different; maybe they all have gold hair or glitter eyebrows, anything to set them apart. Once the Earth crew started wearing Martian costumes, I was sometimes confused about who was who. That aside, entertaining stuff!

A common theme, storyline amongst 1950’s sci-fi and space travel movies is the appearance of females on the various planets. And that continues here. Short skirts, high heels and make-up do enhance the various storylines.
The science isn’t good, but that’s understandable. All we knew about rockets then was V-2 rockets we acquired from Germany, and those weren”t made for human transport. Werner Von Braun came with the rockets, and he was the guiding force to get us to manned rockets. I remember this movie from my youth.
