DO NOT take these types on. Male or female. DO NOT! If they show you that they are dangerous, believe them. Play the timid, loving, game to soothe their mood swing and make your plans to get out with your children. This is no place for ego, domination and wanting to win the battle. You won’t.
My ex. The nothing in the eyes. The way it chills you on a basic human instinct level, people don’t understand. It hits you then that something is very wrong with the person, something is missing. You then realize there is no guarantee they will stop when they’re hurting you, because they lack human qualities. And everything human about them that you’ve seen before that point, was all an act. The mask of the monster.
All of that, running through your head in seconds as you run out of oxygen and can only pray they stop before it’s too late.
I’m married to a wonderful man now. Looking back you see the manipulation. The threats to keep you small. And in a healthy relationship, the only touch is out of love. Not fear or hatred or control. I cannot stand narcissists. I cannot stand abusive men. Or women. It is one of the most selfish acts you can commit on another person. To manipulate, steal years of their life through coercive control and violence.
Personally I believe people who are violent towards their spouse or children pose a risk to society and DV should hold harsher penalties.
At least the one good thing she did in this her account was to finally leave him.
And she did well not to tell him beforehand.
That’s how you leave such a spouse.
