Lucas Sin of Junzi Kitchen and Nice Day Chinese Takeout is in the Munchies Test Kitchen making his take on an iconic takeout dish: Chinese-American restaurant-style egg rolls. Lucas pays homage to the mighty egg roll with this step-by-step recipe that includes store-bought egg roll skins and DIY duck sauce and spicy mustard. Lucas demonstrates how to make the egg roll filling with cabbage, carrots, and Chinese celery, plus a mixture of ground pork and shrimp, and explains the importance of double-frying. yea the filling is cheap but they went down in size and up to 3 to 4 bucks for 1. so I’m learning to make my own and free some.

retired recently and got into making my favorite cuisine. I’ve made egg rolls 3 times before and can already tell that I wish I had watched this video first instead of the others. This guy is a perfect teacher

That looks like an authentic eggroll as far as i know. I will say that Chinese celery is more flavorful.. i have bought it at the asian stores and it tastes better imo so i agree w chef

I’m always looking for things to make my husband so that he will eat cabbage, the first item he mentions when we order from our local Chinese restaurant is egg roll. My local grocery is just now putting Asian foods in and am stocking my shelves with Asian spices. I digress. I made your recipe and it was delicious! Both my husband and son declared that it was better than the restaurants! I know it’s been 5 years since you posted this but I thank you. I also tried the mustard sauce, it was amazing and definitely better than the packet. Can’t wait to try out the plum sauce.
