This story has everything: political intrigue on Gallifrey, one of the trippiest dream sequences I’ve ever seen, and a plot twist that completely floored me. I went in expecting a solid Fourth Doctor story… and ended up watching one of my new favourites.

As much as I live deadly assassin I was hoping you’d watch a Sarah Jane episode for Tom’s era!
I wish you would go back and look at another Tom Baker story. Tom Baker is great, but he does best bouncing off a companion look at one with Sarah Jane Smith or Leela also there are two Romanas one of the2 Romanas the second of which he married the actress, but Sarah Jane Smith is really a good one to get a feel of Tom Baker😢
I think it’s hilarious how many times the Doctor has been brought in front of a Galifreyan court. He was elected president at a point and caused such a stir in their society he must have been all they talked about. I think Q from star trek is much the same way. He is so far out there and different, some probably idolize him, some condem him and the political both fear and respect him. This is why it sucks the time lords are not in nuwho like the classic. I liked how the time lords would just tell the Doctor “we have a shady mission that’s off record that we are volentelling you to do if you want to keep traveling time and space breaking all our laws”.
The Doctor has to be like “fine…. let’s just get this over with”.
Just watched this now and I always find your reviews thoroughly entertaining. I remember how the Crispy Master scared but fascinated me when i watched this as a kid. I also found the dream sequence scary but the near drowning scene didnt frighten me as i had full faith that the Doctor would survive!

The really funny thing about the Master in this episode is that his first appearance after Roger Delgado DIED IN A CAR CRASH looks like. this. Seems a little bit in poor taste.
