After over eight hours of deliberations, a Hawaii jury found Dr. Gerhardt Konig guilty of attempted manslaughter after investigators believed he tried to kill his wife, Arielle, on a hiking trail on her birthday. Prosecutors claimed Dr. Konig tried to push Arielle off a cliff, then beat her with a lava rock and stabbed her with a syringe amid anger over an alleged affair. The anesthesiologist testified that he was actually attacked by Arielle and he was acting in self-defense.

Grant you its not nice to be cheated on but its not worth going to jail for how stupid is he.
It was definitely attempted manslaughter, not attempted murder. That’s wrong. Murder means to deliberately kill someone while manslaughter means you don’t intend to kill someone. So this was attempted manslaughter.

The whole thing was a mess. Police failed to search for the syringes.
Judge intervened and offered other charges the jury could find the accused guilty of that were lesser charges than those the prosecution had originally sought. It was his discretion, but unusual.
Jury indulged in “him-pathy” towards Konig — the automatic sexist sympathy for the male in any equation.
Defense convinced these brain-dead IDIOTS that it really was a “he said/she said” situation and that Konig was “merely” acting out of “emotional distress.” Despite myriad and exhaustive documentation, hard evidence, confession, and testimony, jury refused to accept that Konig got and KEPT HIMSELF in an emotional state that supported his obsession and eventual plan to kill.
If there is a mistrial, and yet ANOOOOOOOTHER long saga of a trial, I hope that mother can at least get another protective order and keep this obsessive, sniveling, crazy little douche-bag away from herself and those kids. 😞
