The Justice Department is ending a controversial investigation into building-renovation cost overruns by the Federal Reserve, potentially clearing a path to confirmation for Kevin Warsh, President Donald Trump’s pick to be the next Fed leader.
US Attorney Jeanine Pirro said in a social media post Friday that the Fed Inspector General had been asked to scrutinize the cost overruns. She said she expects a report soon on the findings. Bloomberg International Economics and Policy Correspondent Mike McKee joins Paul Sweeney and Scarlet Fu on ‘Bloomberg Intelligence’ to discuss what happens next.

Lol! So the investigation was totally not a political attack but they’re ending it for completely political reasons?

@Pepman12 I think that depends on whether Jerome Powell will stay in the Fed as Governor until 2028.😂😂😂 If he promises to leave on 15-May-2026, both the position of chairman and governor, I think Trump administration may not reopen the case. This maybe the deal. 😂😂😂But in the end, it all depends on Trump because even Powell leaves both the position in 15-May-2026, Trump may still can reopen the case after 15-May-2026, at any time.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Oh my goodness!!! This is gonna be terrible. Let a Fed Inspector General (IG) to investigate the cost overunns? I think it is gonna be terrible, as Trump administration will target him as the truth seeker. Or maybe this Fed IG is the key person for the overrunns😨 . And I highly doubt that this idea is proposed by the new FED Chairman😨😨. Another more important is that, despite the misconduct or misbehavior or incompetence caused by this FED IG, I highly doubt he maybe’s Powell’s allies. The new Fed Chair is gonna kick all of these suborindates from Jerome Powell, not only relating to this case of cost overruns, but maybe the new regime that needs another new type of colleagues and employees. You guys may know what I mean. Anyway, I can only say. Good luck to this FED IG! Hope he survive in this Fed a bit longer!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂 This is gonna be bad as I smell a future possible coup d’etat inside the FED…😅😅😅
