CBS News fired veteran “60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley on Tuesday, one day after he sharply criticized the newsmagazine’s new leadership in front of the staff.

CBS said Pelley was terminated for cause, and industry analysts immediately predicted that Pelley might take legal action against the network.

CNN chief media analyst Brian Stelter has the details.

People don’t like change. It’s simply not Pelleys call to make . Bullying them is not helpful . He’s probably still mad about losing the evening news chair . Scott is a trump hater .

Pelley deserved to get fired. Insubordination in a 1:1 situation might be overlooked once. Insubordination in front of an entire staff and your walking papers can be found on your desk. Here we are 1 month later and no one is talking about Scott Pelley. He is already forgotten. For good reason.

Beginning with Scott Pelley 60 Minutes just overnight is hitting an all time low, watching the Broadcast this evening July 12, 2026. The actual 60 minute broadcast was just 30 minutes because of preemptive advertising of CBS / Paramount worthless commercials. Almost like looped information over and over again. The head of CBS should be fired on the spot for putting worthless information in a looped broadcast what is basically worthless, Keep up the good work CBS. And you will be out of business in know time. I’ve been watching 60 minutes for over 50 years, it appears that I’ll be looking for something new to watch, something with substance.
