Robert Brutto, a retired Miami Dade Police Officer, was back on the stand Wednesday morning, and his body-worn camera from the fatal boat crash from September 2022 was played for the court. The video showed the defendant, George Pino, after the boat crash, and some of the teenage girls that he encountered after the incident. South Florida developer George Pino is charged with vessel homicide and manslaughter in a 2022 boat crash that killed 17-year-old Lucy Fernandez and left another teen permanently disabled. Prosecutors allege Pino was operating the boat when it slammed into a channel marker near Boca Chita Key, while the defense argues the crash was a tragic accident and that there is insufficient evidence to support the charges. Camila Alvarez, one of the teens who was on George Pino’s boat in September 2022, took the stand on Tuesday to discuss the chaotic scene. She recalled what happened prior to the boat flipping and then seeing a bunch of her friends and the Pino’s in the water after the crash. Alvarez got emotional speaking about the incident and also recalled seeing her friend, Lucy Fernandez, getting CPR on the boat. The father of 17-year-old Lucy Fernandez took the stand in the case against George Pino, who is accused of her death. Her father recalled what happened that Labor Day weekend, which turned into a “nightmare experience.” He spoke through tears to recall seeing his daughter hooked up to machines in the hospital after the crash to keep her “faint heartbeat alive” before she passed away. After hearing days of conflicting testimony, a Texas jury found Karmelo Anthony guilty of murdering fellow student Austin Metcalf. The deadly encounter began with a dispute under a track meet tent, but what exactly happened in the final moments before the stabbing became the focus of a courtroom battle. Karmelo Anthony, 19, has been found guilty of murder in the death of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf. The teens were attending a regional track meet in Frisco, Texas, when Metcalf reportedly told Anthony to leave their team’s tent. That’s when Anthony reportedly stabbed and killed Metcalf.
