What you are about to hear may genuinely be the greatest debut in the history of professional baseball. On Saturday at Wrigley Field in Chicago, 23 year old St. Louis Cardinals rookie outfielder Joshua Báez stepped into the batter’s box for his very first Major League at-bat. He obliterated the first pitch he saw 449 feet for a home run. The Cardinals dugout went absolutely wild. His second at-bat — home run number two. His third at-bat — home run number three. Three at-bats. Three home runs. Five RBIs. MLB has since confirmed that no player in modern baseball history, dating all the way back to 1901, has ever homered in each of their first three career at-bats. Nobody. Not once. In 125 years of baseball. The story does not stop there. Báez had 30 family members in the stands that day, including his mother, cheering him on for his first ever big league game. He later told reporters that he felt the spirit of his late father with him throughout the entire afternoon. And in a detail that will give you chills — a bumblebee followed him around left field for the entire game. He said it was his dad. We dare you to watch the highlights without getting goosebumps. So we want to know — is this the greatest MLB debut you have ever heard of? And do you think Joshua Báez is going to be a superstar?
