We are learning more this Tuesday night as President Donald Trump says he will be delaying tariffs on $20 billion worth of Canadian imports. This reportedly comes after the two countries reached a deal just hours before the sanctions were to begin. “I have paused the 50% Tariffs against Canada, that were scheduled to kick in tomorrow morning for a three day period, based on the fact that Canada and the U.S.A., subject to the finalization of documents, have a DEAL!” Trump said on social media less than two hours before the 12:01 a.m. Wednesday deadline.

It doesn’t really matter what deal is agreed to between the two countries. Many Canadians have redefined their view of the US and will not return to the relationship of previous times. That will affect travel, purchases, relationships. The goodwill is gone and it isn’t ever going to return to what it was before. Sorry for the good people of the US but a sizable, objectionable segment of your population has irrevocably changed the temperature.
