Russia attacked Kyiv overnight with ballistic missiles and other weapons, killing one and wounding 16 people, highlighting Ukraine’s shortage of US-made Patriot air defense systems.
President Donald Trump has said he is prepared to grant Ukraine licenses to produce Patriots, the most effective means of intercepting Russian ballistic missiles, potentially bolstering Kyiv’s defenses. However, the details and timeline remain unclear, and full production could take years.
Russia launched 41 missiles and 125 drones across Ukraine overnight, according to the Ukrainian air force. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said most of the missiles had targeted the capital.

The Russians don’t deliberately target civilians. They are PRAGMATIC and logical. It is a waste of SCARCE resources, for no militarily tangible or discernible return. They did not do it even in WW2.
It was us, who carpet and fire bombed and killed civilians wholesale, by the hundreds of thousands, in WW2 which – by some respected history analysts – did NOT shorten, but actually extended the war – never mind the wholesale waste of (our, expensive) resources.
