Thank God people recognize that unintentional disasters should not create another disaster. This guy messed up but he didn’t plan it. The right verdict.
Terrible verdict!!
I’ve noticed some patterns in defendants.
Whenever a defendant admits to drinking, it’s always “two” drinks. One drink doesn’t sound credible, three or more sounds like binge drinking. So they always go with two. And it’s always beer, never spirits. “I had two beers.” Because drunks drink whisky, right?
If a young person is on trial, more often than not they’ve been diagnosed with ADHD or ADD. Accused murderers often appear in court wearing glasses, even though they didn’t wear them previously. When defendants say they are sorry, they usually read it from a sheet and use unnatural langauge. For instance, can you imagine reading out to your wife, “Honey, I would like to express my remorse for forgetting our anniversary today. I never intended it to happen.”
Fantastic! Tragic accidents don’t automatically make someone criminally guilty. Prosecutors should pursue charges only when the evidence supports them—not because a case is high-profile or emotions are running high. My condolences remain with everyone affected by this heartbreaking accident. This WAS the right call.
That defense attorney knocked it outta the ball park! Brilliant closing!
I feel bad for both parties. I agree there should not be drinking on the boat, but I truly believe this was definitely a very, very sad accident. I feel so bad for Lucy’s dad.
