    There are a lot of pathetic comments and negativity in this comment section. Andre was one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Not just because he won 8 slams, but because he changed the way the game was played in terms of technique. He was an inspiration. He was human too and all of them are, but he was/is one of the greats.

    He matured in his late twenties and accepted the fact that he could still be no.2 and a great player even if Sampras was better.

    Five of the eight slams came from beating mediocre opponents in the finals though. And four of the eight were Australian Opens, the easiest of the four slams to win, and the one that Sampras cared the least for.
