The most interesting thing about these family fortunes isn’t the size, it’s the survival. Most wealth doesn’t last three generations, there’s a reason nearly every culture has a version of “shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations.” The first builds it, the second maintains it, the third spends it. So the families showing up with 11 and 12-figure fortunes across multiple generations did something rare, they didn’t just make money, they built structures to keep it, trusts, holding companies, ownership of assets that compound quietly instead of income that gets spent. That’s the real lesson. Getting rich and staying rich are two completely different skills. One is about earning. The other is about protecting and compounding across decades, which almost nobody masters. The families on this list didn’t get there by picking one great stock. They got there by never being forced to sell the thing that kept growing.
