Ten years ago, Congress created and funded a bipartisan organization, America 250, to plan and execute celebrations across the country. Those are still going on, but President Trump wanted something else. The White House, after staffing disagreements, set up Freedom 250 — a separate, public/private entity — to do things more to his liking, It seems predictable that, rather than a Fourth of July celebration for Americans of all political persuasions, he’s advertising the massive fireworks display on the National Mall as “the most spectacular TRUMP RALLY of them all, a ‘TRIBUTE TO AMERICA.’”

Greetings fellow country guys & gals! Fox News just announced America’s most patriotic town 4 this here July 4th, and it’s where me and my brood come from-a little town outside Little Rock, AR called Possum Ridge. Now, I have to tell y’all something-we don’t get a lot of notoriety down here in the Deep South because we’re the most patriotic and deeply red; however, I must tell the kind folks who care to read this that I have many family members who’ll be joining us for eats, treats and mountain moonshine tomorrow afternoon. My cousin Earl Skidmark & his wife Sheila-who is actually his 1st cousin-will be joining us all the way from Elko, Nevada. They’re making the drive in their old ’84 Winnebago with 350,000 miles on it. After last year’s get together-which ended early due to too much drinkin’ & a family brawl over who was gonna get to be referee for the yearly family competition we call the “alligator crawl”, the pastor from my local mega-church had a few talks with me over the last few weeks about my anger issues. Eventually, he told me that we should do the family 4th of July bru-haha this year because I made progress at my 12-step program last week.
So, everything is set up and good 2 go 4 tomorrow! I also forgot to mention what we’ll all be eatin’ gourmet-we got a boost in income after I sold my denture collection on ebay, so we’re gonna splurge on the good stuff; aunt Bessie-Lou hopped on over to the “Dollar Village” this mornin’ to stock up on canned spam and discount frankfurters. She’s gonna put together a delish’ spam and hot dog casserole that the brood will feast on til’ the cows come home! And for dessert? Bessie Lou’s gonna wip up some deep-fried armadillo tails coated in powdered sugar and maple sugar! Happy 250 America!
