Aleksandr Sorokin ran 198.6 miles, the equivalent of nearly eight marathons, in a single day. We talked to the athletes and scientists pushing the limits of human endurance to find out why that’s so hard to do.
It turns out six variables have to be perfectly aligned to break a distance-running world record. They include a metric called VO₂ max, cutting-edge footwear, and the athlete’s mindset. We looked at all of them.

Why Running 200 Miles In 24 Hours Is Almost Impossible | Pushing Limits | Business Insider

I hear you on the gels. There are so many options but I’ll tell you what—when you’re neck deep in a 20 mile run, your body is craving calories, the gels don’t taste so bad at that point
For marathons they work good. For Ultras there comes a point where I need something a little solid.
Honestly, you can get the same caloric intake by literally just making sugar water. I have a 2:20 marathon and exclusively make my own ultraconcentrated sugar water with some amount of salt and flavouring (it’s kind of awful, but yes, it does go down).
5:00 is that a little hat? you one of them? suspicious ..
This is such an interesting video. Crazy what these guys can do. Awesome stuff!
Gu gels are like eating paste, sis is good, maurten are top tier.

Impossible and completely irrelevant
Kenyan dominance would not disappear in Ultras when there was more money to win. They are not running for fun but to get a better life.
Nah, Jayson Arday ran 400 miles in 12 hours
This is the last guy who should’ve been making this video 😅
24:12 I thought you were going to start saying that ultrarunners should start doing meth lmaoo
Interesting cuz the top athletes are barrel chested with skinny limbs and modest back muscles. Don’t need a v taper or even super defined abs. Opposite of bodybuilders.
I need an oxygen tank just from watching this video
25:13 that’s what she said
i work at a running store, but even if i didn’t it’d still be true that the supercomp rebel v1 is $200 not $250+. if a store charges prices like that for specialty consultations or something like that, its lowk a crazy rip. the store i work in does foot scanning and form analysis, along with full returns and with no additional cost.
200 miles = 321,869 kilomètres btw.
