50 summers ago ……1976 the Bicentennial year in Philly…I was a teenager………that October 1976…….a systemic shift happened out of nowhere….Julius Erving became a Sixer……..HE WAS BOX OFFICE………50 years later…….The semiquincentenial year in Philly 2026……….Lebron James became a Sixer…….HE IS BOX OFFICE……..Box Office people move the needle Systematically…Economically. &..Socially.
Upon Lebron choosing Philly, My mind wanders back to Saturday night Jan 25,2020 Lebron just finished playing a gm in Philly against the Sixers and Passed Kobe Bryant’s scoring record. A little after 1030pm Kobe sent Lebron a text message offering congrats…. Kobe was 41, the same age that Lebron is now .Postgame speaking @ his locker Lebron was deeply touched in what breaking that record meant…the next morning Lebron gets on a plane…….before the plane lands @ LAX…….Kobe was gone.

LeBron going back to Cleveland would have made him feel as if he was just on a retirement tour, playing games for fun. He went to Philly to win, because that’s all he wants to do every year.
