Bread has several soft ballads like this. They’re all great! But if you want some contrast, look up their song Mother Freedom–it rocks! Or my favorite bread song is the album track The Chosen One. David Gates also did some solo stuff, and Goodbye Girl is a great song of his.

This song came out just before I started high school and it hit me then, even though I hadn’t personally known loss at that point in my life. Now at 69, after having over the years lost both parents, other close family members, and most devastatingly, my wife, I cry whenever I hear it.

Glad you got to “Bread” Stacey. I’m old enough to have lost my parents, all my aunts and uncles, and so on. My Grandmother made it to 96, but I lost my Mom at 67. It was 30 years ago this year, but the sense of loss is permanent. One simply learns to live with it
It’s good you have so many family members still. I took my own for granted too much, so I urge everyone who will listen to me not to make same mistakes I did.
