October 4, 2016 by BOB BOILEN • We’ve never done a Tiny Desk Concert that wasn’t behind my desk at NPR. But when the White House called and said they were putting on an event called South by South Lawn, a day-long festival filled with innovators and creators from the worlds of technology and art, including music, we jumped at the chance to get involved. At a film screening of ‘Cuba: An African Odyssey,’ moderated by theGrio’s Natasha Alford, actor and activist Danny Glover discussed the importance of defining political projects in the era of Black Lives Matter. “When you’re looking at that and seeing that a black boy’s shot somewhere, a black woman is shot somewhere or something else happens by police… You have to understand the historic nature and lineage of that,” said Glover. “Some people have said, or Hillary Clinton might have said, ‘the trust has been fractured.’ But there never was any trust.
