Synopsis:

Delightful movie but if you ever saw a real historical documentary about how the wealthy elite treated their servants during the gilded age you would be appalled by their callous and unchristian attitude towards anyone of low station.

Well, it is a period comedy. You are free to believe what you wish. The comedy is humorous on many levels and the baptism is just a layer of unmatched values and how the relationship gives in to one another for the higher value of being tenderhearted towards your loved ones-regardless of personalities and opinions.

My reaction to Taylor’s appearance in this film has nothing to do with her beauty. I mourn that she was not given more opportunity to do comedy in the years after this. She is very funny in her small part. Her scandalized “SHE was the Methodist” cracks me up.
