Truck sales are starting to crater though with the rising gas prices.. nobody wants to be paying so much for fuel for gas guzzlers, so they’re just not buying F150s and Silverado’s. High gas prices are Ford and Chevy’s worst nightmare.
I like my hybrid wagon. I am getting a hybrid Ute for my business. I see so many oversized vehicles on the road doing the school drop off or grocery run. Utterly stupid.
Something that was not mentioned: cars nowadays are cramped full of (mostly unneccessary) technology. All the driving assistances, 2/3 or more displays in the car, the infotainment stuff and whatever else… modern cars are more an annoyance and whenever i drive one i feel disturbed and annoyed. Seriously, who needs rgb-led-lighting in his doors?
But all the chips, sensors and electonic play things mean also, cars get more complicated, the supplychains even further intertwined and in fact, more expensive.
Then you also have lawmakers worldwide make an ever increasing number of those drive assist systems mandatory so more complex parts are added into the frame. It is shown by studies that this alone let prices of compact cars in europe skyrocket around +40% in recent years (around 2017 was the first big round of this and just this july the newest hirnfarts of lawmaker-bullsh*t were added to the list of “safety measures”).
And THEN comes the international political idocracy we have to live through today on top of that.
You can bet – in a few years 50 k for a new corolla will be a cheap deal !
11:39 I remember when customers of Pimp my Ride paid $ 100,- for their vehicles.
You forget the part where Trump basically banned Chinese cars. They sell loads of cheap cars
