Tried punching in once — it helps with flow and delivery — but it takes up too much time, so it isn’t my permanent way to record.
I still write because it keeps my ideas structured. When I record now, I loop 4‑bar sections and freestyle now. Reading off the phone when recording sounds too stiff to me, when I hear it back.

all the music the african community made was the best! until the 90s! why! its not even historically timed well to match freedom from segregation!

My music got ten times better when I started punching in and honest to God I didn’t even know this was a thing . I just started doing it by myself and then later on somebody said you’re punching in I was like what’s that ? he’s like you’re doing that right now. I was like I didn’t even know it was called punching in
But here’s a thing though if you’re gonna do punching in, you can’t just talk about no bullshit though it needs to make sense and you need to stay on topic I’ve done that so I know it can be done and there’s a lot of rappers that do that and they do it well but some of y’all are just talking about whatever no subject line a bunch of bullshit. It’s not a bad thing to do as long as you do it right
