I experience time dilation at work compared to home. 8 hours at work slows down to 8 hours and 53 minutes, but my two days off is over in only 32 hours. The equation is work squared divided by 2 days off equals my two days off speeds up so I only get 38 hours, and not 48 hours off, because time speeds up when not at work.

Time does not slow down at the speed of light. As you approach the speed of light, you are taking an increasingly shorter path through curved spacetime , causing you to experience less time than someone at rest who is taking the longer less curved path through spacetime,
If clocks tick faster or slower how do you know it is because of how fast time itself is moving and not because things like altitude, speed and gravity have an effect on the actual clock mechanisms involved?
I feel like he explained what happens pretty well… but barely touched on why it happens….
