    from the beginning I knew it was about the masters situation, but I listened several times to figure out if it was from the perspective of Taylor or written from Scott’s perspective. and I’m glad she addressed it and said it’s purposefully coded to be vague so you don’t really know. I love that you can interpret it both ways and it still works, it’s absolutely genius

    I thought it was about scooter Braun. I think the song is about how manipulative the music industry is, and how someone can go from being so important to you to you realizing the “love” was just for profit

    You are entirely correct. Also, the references to the Jag, Scott Borchetta drove and raced Jags and also bought a whiskey company, hence the ‘brown liquor’. Part way through she flips the script and is singing back to him, now she is the father figure re-recording then buying her albums (protecting the family). She buys back her empire. Also she used father figure because George stood up to Sony records when they refused to release him from his contract forcing him to put out albums.
