Former IRS law enforcement officer Brendan Banfield has been convicted in a case that prosecutors say began with a secret online arrangement and ended in the deaths of his wife, Christine Banfield, and another man, Joseph Ryan. Investigators alleged Banfield and his family’s au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhães, lured Ryan to the home through a fetish website under the guise of a consensual encounter that was never what it seemed. When Ryan arrived, he was shot and Christine Banfield was found stabbed, while Banfield’s defense insists the true sequence of events has been misunderstood and he was not part of any deadly plan.
