We expected just one, but Webb revealed at least three galaxies swirling around a giant red quasar, a super bright region at the center of a galaxy powered by a supermassive black hole.

We stand to gain a wealth of information with the JWST, It’s amazing that its been almost a year since it was launched, Time sure does fly when you get older, But I’m not complaining, Any day on this side of the flower garden is a good day, Thanks to all the awesome folks at Cosmolnowledge. 👍

How can these bodies come together if we’re all being blown apart, further & faster, away from a central Big Bang point?! Why is Andromeda Galaxy going to crash into our own?! No comprendo!

Because the expansion is happening at a much larger scale, and not within a couple of galaxies. A couple galaxies might be getting closer, but on the largest scales the whole universe is expanding.

@Cosmoknowledge 👍 Thanks. (But, I’m still trying to grasp how a Big Bang “explosion” from one, central point, would allow for matter’s fragments to collide with each other on their ever-expanding stream away from the BB’s central point. Although, it’s obvious that such collisions have taken place. I obviously have some misunderstanding on it all.)
