Early this year, NASA’s Voyager 1 spacecraft sent back inaccurate data through a dead computer. Scientists had to go through decades-old manuals to find the solution.

So back then they made technology that would get a signal 4 billion miles from earth, but fifty years later we still have trouble with mobile phones dropping signal two miles from town. This is progress?

I wonder if the Voyagers can be updated with latest updated systems and software. Quite impossible really. But wouldn’t that be great? How about sending a new one?

I am so fascinated by these 2 voyagers. I was born couple of months earlier in April 1977. I can’t believe that something that nasa has created and is still working 45 yrs on, with a few Yrs to go. What an amazing achievement this is. 👏

They used fine craftsmanship and the the extra memory drives. These have been operating three times longer than the mission was intended for. The scientists and engineers that built it went above and beyond, sometimes without anyone knowing, they knew there was a chance these would just keep on drifting so why not try and see what else they can collect. It is a real achievement how well it has done with the technology of that time. The memory drives are like a cassette tape that it keep recording over and o er again. I was born the same year as well.
