Just outside downtown New Orleans, hotelier Jayson Seidman transformed a rundown roadside motel into The Drifter, a vibrant and playful alternative to the French Quarter’s classic wrought iron charm. By mixing mid century character with bold color, modern details, and a relaxed, social vibe, the property became a refreshing take on the city’s hospitality—one that feels creative, youthful, and unmistakably New Orleans.

(Re)Motel spotlights passionate owners across the country as they breathe new life into historic roadside stays. Each episode celebrates creativity, craft, and the unique stories behind transforming neglected motels into inviting, one of a kind travel destinations.

This is an odd video considering The Drifter Hotel doesn’t exist anymore. It was sold and renamed Maidstone. Apparently, it is overpriced considering the neighborhood and how unsavory it is after dark. They also don’t seem to be running the space very well and they drop the ball on communication, advertising, etc. They must have filmed this a while ago. The decor has changed since this was filmed. 🤔

@jazzyg530 Yeah, I was just thinking to myself “didn’t they close.” The crowd there was awful. Did have a great time once – recorded a concert during their first year. Topless swimming is never a dull moment.
