How come you never do research?

MTV banned the N.W.A music video for “Straight Outta Compton.” So while rap videos were playing on MTV in 1988 and 1989 on “Yo! MTV Raps,” this video was not included.

Can’t believe you left out “You Spin Me Round” by Dead or Alive, which was so memorable it was parodied by Paul Rudd and Jimmy Fallon.

I know music videos are kind of a dead artform, but damn, if I don’t miss ’em. The golden age of music videos led to some truly great artistry. Lot of film directors got their start in music videos: Wes Anderson, Davd Fincher, Michael Bay. I can see how the art form might have been a good way of cutting your cinematic teeth. Music videos are a form of storytelling–micro-storytelling, but still storytelling–and are all about eye-catching visuals.
