At the beginning of the 21st century, Earth has become completely dependent on a revolutionary and instantaneous travel called T-Mat, which is based on the moon. As the Doctor and his companions arrive on Earth, T-Mat mysteriously breaks down. Technicians determine the trouble to be on the moon and Commander Radnor, T-Mat’s chief administrator, knows someone who still has a rocket capable of making the journey. The Doctor, Jamie and Zoe volunteer to crew an obsolete rocket and after making a hazardous landing on the moon, find the source of the problem. The moon base has been invaded by some old enemies – the Ice Warriors from Mars… and they have plans to take over Earth!

I hate to ask, but who is the chicken guy? Is it the one who said he didn’t want to die after the Martians killed their commander in episode 1 of this story?

I know at the time, it was supposed to be serious, with the effects they had at the time. But when we look at it today, my father having been from the 60’s, joked that it’s the attack of the killer washing machines 😂
And for me personally, Patrick Troughton’s slapstick acting, unintentional campy special effects like inflatable balloon pods and “death by bubble bath” and a classic, unintentionally hilarious moment where he tells an Ice Warrior not to kill him because he is a “genius”.
It’s not a knock on Patrick Troughton’s acting though. He’s my favorite Doctor, simply because of unintentional comady. In my view, it was this Doctor’s own specialty, being funny so as to throw his enemies off. They would never expect a “clown” to be their downfall. (Clown was how the 1st Doctor refered to him.)
Also, fun fact, when Zoe (Wendy Padbury), when she let the Doctor in, if you look closely, the actress couldn’t contain her amusement as she was smiling the whole time she was helping the Doctor in.
