Also, Dr. Garcia is kind of terrible. Clearly good at her job, but I question her as a person.
I am just wondering, person who finds a way to finish his life, smile more, has a plan in head, what I see in Dr. Robby, and words like “if I come back…” it would be so sad if we lose him, he is one of the leader characters and I think Dr. Abbot would do something about it. They are so good friends.
As someone who is also in bioethics, I appreciated the ethics commentary but noticed that it focused more on the clinical ethical questions rather than the deeply structural organizational ethics questions that are also raised by the show about resource allocation, safety, human resource management, and health system structure. Obviously all of these contribute significantly to the characters’ experiences as well as patient outcomes. It would be great to pick up the topic again with someone who can speak to that aspect – Ellen Fox comes to mind as a possibility!

I love the Pitt, my favorite. Put this podcast is starting to turn me off on in. They’re making every damn scene into a hidden message and attaching their own biases and believes.
I’m an Army veteran from the end of the Vietnam era and always introduce myself as Radar O’Reilly because I performed admin work. I had an injury to my hand that required about 9 stitches and was sewn up by an Army medic. I quickly picked up that Dr Abbot was an Army medic before being a physician by some things that he said, his behavior during chaos, and of course his backpack. Many of my friends at the American Legion are military nurses, military physicians, medics, and one of my closest friends is a Navy Corpsman who was deployed numerous times where she cared for Marines. I hope that the writers can explore his character in more detail as it may be helpful to those veterans watching the show who experienced trauma. I also want to mention that I use the VA for my healthcare. Maybe some interaction with the VA hospital in Pittsburgh. My uncle, who was a Coast Guard veteran during the Korean era suffered a serious heart attack and spent some time recovering at the VA hospital in Pittsburgh. I would visit him and he talked about for certain treatments they would send him down to Presby.
