I’ve been a nurse for over 40 years, and no one has ever called me “nurse blah blah”. Whatever she or he’s name is. All this “Nurse Dana.” or whoever comes off sounding so fake.

I really was annoyed that I was unable to catch the methemoglobinemia the first time, because I have seen it a few times on television and know certain things which can cause it, and the biggest thing was that when I got my first Android tablet I was so surprised that the voice to text was so good that I could say that word and it could spell it. …. And yes it is weird that’s that word is in my vocabulary. I’m trying to think whether and untold stories of the ER where I had heard of it. On Gray’s Anatomy they have somebody, a child, in a helicopter who had been having symptoms, and they said oh doesn’t she like to play around in the fields on the farm? And then they gave her atropine… No diagnosis that I remember. No methylene blue. But we have had people in farms, people in greenhouses – they are always children, and one baby who was being fed formula next with water from a well which was polluted with organophosphate runoff… Something like that. I didn’t know about the things which the boy at pittfest took. But then again, I am really bad at science. Chemistry was the only thing I ever flunked. But I never took biology and I definitely didn’t take physics… Which seems like it wouldn’t be pertinent but they’re always saying mechanism of injury and I think that’s physics. When I was learning to drive and my friend said turn left and I said HERE? I did not know physics, but apparently my body did… Fascinating listening to Dr Sachs! I wish my sentences would not type on the screen and then vanish.

My mother had dementia and was in a memory care facility. She had diarrhea and vomiting from the flu so they sent her to the ER. So I was there with her and they needed a urine sample. This young resident or most likely was an intern came in to take her to the restroom to collect. I looked at his youth and knew I needed to take charge of this situation and told him that I’ll take care of that. It’s hard enough for a woman to pee in a little cup, but an elderly woman with dementia could never do this. So I instructed him to put a pan designed for this on the toilet and that worked. I love this show.
