Didn’t care for this. Dark victory is better IMO.
With all that is happening in the USA, I escape to these classic movies.
I want to check into this place and be taken care of
1947 The Other Love is a n entertaining movie. Wonderful acting. Orchestration of music enriches the work. Rudolph Polk was the music director. Polk was a major talent as music director in many movies of the 40’s & 50’s. He also was an artist manager for Jascha Heifetz, Vladimir Horowitz, José Iturbi, and Gregor Piatigorsky. In the movie Arch Of Triumph 1948 he was the music director and, interestingly enough, the movie Arch Of Triumph was written by the same author of The Other Love, Erich Maria Remarque.
It is hard to watch the realism of “Karen Duncan” being afflicted with a respiratory disease. In her desperation, she starts drinking/smoking again, knowing it is the worst thing to do. Stanwyck portrays this character well.
Drinking causes inflammation, choking the ability to get breath and that magnifies respiratory distress. People tend to rely on their own resources to cope with afflictions, loneliness but turning the Christ Jesus, repenting of sin, and believing in Him as the Lord and reading HIs word brings hope to your soul and a surety to a promised eternal life. Grace & Peace.
