Although researchers began to notice a dip in cereal sales in 2011, there’s no question that many of you are buying boxes of the stuff. And for those who struggle to make a healthy choice in the breakfast aisle, things like health claims and packaging can really get in the way. Many of the cereals that look the healthiest are anything but. To prove our point, we decided to pick up six healthy-looking cereals at our local grocery store and compare them to one of the sugariest cereals we recalled from childhood: Fruity Pebbles.

What you didn’t notice is that most of the ‘healthy’ cereal contained raisins… Cherios and Smart Start are the only exceptions. The raisins are the sole cause of the increase in sugar content. If you look on Post’ website, You will see that regular honey bunches contains less sugar than Fruity Pebbles. Somebody has been distorting the truth….

There’s a big difference though in the way the body processes natural fruit sugars over cane sugar. Of course any cereal with dried fruit in it will have a higher sugar content than a cereal that is sweetened with regular sugar, but your body will take it on more kindly. It’s actually more shocking to see how much SALT is in cereal. A bowl of plain cornflakes has almost DOUBLE the salt in it than a bowl the same size of hot chips. Salt content in cereals are actually really high.

stupid huffington post really? either they are meaning not to provide you the whole picture deliberately or they really are just stupid. you forgot to mention the DYES. artificial coloring and artificial ingredients. your body is a natural living organism, why feed it artificially. not to mention GMO….

Are the cereals with fruit higher in sugar because they are including the natural sugars from the fruit (raisins, apple) in their count and if so, is that fair? Is natural sugar just as bad as added sugar?
