When people say the police have “more pressing things to do,” I genuinely wonder what could possibly be more pressing than the murder of a 16-year-old. If taking a young person’s life doesn’t rank as urgent, then what does?
It’s obviously good that the killer was eventually found, but law enforcement shouldn’t be praised simply for doing their job. There should be an explicit principle that every case is worth pursuing, not just the ones that attract attention or pressure.
We hear over and over that families must push, beg, or pester the police just to ensure an investigation continues. But what about the families who don’t realize they have to do that? What about the ones who trust the system to function the way it’s supposed to?
Do their loved ones simply slip through the cracks? No one should have to campaign for the basic expectation that a murder will be thoroughly investigated.

I’m 68…..and for all my years in this world I will never understand why men have to rape and kill females. I just can’t come to terms with it.
It’s a shame how these murderers escape justice by way of dying. Personally, I think anyone found guilty of murdering someone through DNA and later died should have (by law) etched on their grave marker the name of the person they murdered! They might have escaped justice, but that will be a forever reminder for all to know that they still murdered somebody.

It is ridiculous how these sentences are carried out. Some people stay longer in jail for weed than they do for murder and crimes of this nature. Its really insane.

Death penalty with certainty executed swiftly seems sensible to me.
