I wonder why so many people fixate on forgiveness. These mindless killers are not owed forgiveness—only punishment. They forfeit any rights to forgiveness because forgiveness is a gift granted to the guilty and these people are not owed such gifts. You don’t have to forgive. It’s really not a requirement for you to give such consideration to serial killers who destroyed your lives.
If you believe in a god, he’s not going to forgive these people so why should you? Hell is where you believe these killers will be sent after death—and Hell is not a place of forgiveness; it’s eternal punishment and suffering.
If you believe that, you must surely understand that forgiveness is up to your god to dispense, and you? No. You owe them nothing. Your dead loved ones don’t want you to even consider “forgiveness”, it’s an insult to their memories and to how their lives were destroyed. They don’t get a future—and forgiveness does nothing but absolve the perpetrators of their criminal actions—it literally gives them permission to go out and do it again (if they’re ever freed). Forgiveness for such heinous crimes is an easy way out for the criminal—I killed your child and you forgave me of that appalling crime; if this is the case, why not do it again? Because I’ll just get forgiven.
Forgiveness is a just a concept that might make YOU feel a bit better about your loss, but to the killer, it’s a free pass to carry on regardless.
