I have been searching for this version for years and just by chance saw this and started to view it and was delighted to finally see and hear this as de Mille meant it to be seen and heard. Every hymn and song was chosen to fit a key moment in the film and adds to the emotion and power of King of Kings. Everyone watching this will be seeing the real version with the original soundtrack.

I have a booklet from 1927 when it was shown in Polish cinema with pictures and quotes from a bible
William Boyd, “Hopalong Cassidy” Appears in this Spectacular Film 🎥
He helps JESUS to Carry the Cross to Calvary.

A wonderful movie. Beautifully acted and it doesn’t feel 100 years old. I love the music, the special effects, the reverence. This has to be in my top 10 of any movie I’ve seen about Jesus.

This is still my favorite film adaptation of the Gospel account. You can really feel the reverence that went into the entire production. A century later and it maintains its power to inspire.
I remember seeing this movie with my mother in the early 70’s public tv Easter weekend 1971 (WTTW 11 Chicago) I thought this movie was distroyed years ago glad to see it restored looks beautiful
Thanks so much for this finely remastered version with the original musical score. However, two parts are missing: Jesus suddenly stopping the funeral cortege in order to raise the widow’s son; And the plea of Pilate’s wife to release Jesus because she had a dream of Jesus as an innocent man, good and just. Still, your version of King of Kings is the best one available on You Tube!
