The First Christian Nation (It Wasn’t Rome) | Church History Hub

In 301 AD, a small mountain kingdom wedged between the Roman and Persian empires did something no nation had ever done: it declared Christianity its official religion. The story of how Armenia got there involves a king who went mad, a prisoner who survived thirteen years at the bottom of a stone pit, and a sister’s vision that pulled him back out. This video traces the Armenian Church from Gregory the Illuminator through the creation of a unique alphabet, the Council of Chalcedon they missed because they were fighting a war for survival, and seventeen centuries of a church that outlasted every empire that tried to erase it.
