In pursuit of the stolen TARDIS, the Doctor and Jamie follow a lead to an antique shop owned by Edward Waterfield. The shop is a trap and the pair are rendered unconscious. They wake to find themselves in a country house in 1866. There they find the Daleks are working to create a race of invincible Daleks. Jamie’s faith in the Doctor is stretched to the limit as the Doctor appears to start collaborating with the Daleks. The Doctor however is planning the rescue of Waterfield’s captive daughter, Victoria. Events move to Skaro, where the Doctor finally meets the Dalek Emperor and discovers the true evil behind the Dalek plan.
The original 1967 master recordings of ‘The Evil of the Daleks’ were lost soon after the programme’s original transmission. However, audio-only recordings have survived and have been used to create a brand new fully animated reconstruction of this lost classic.

2:52:27 The cuts to the daleks being destroyed are absolutely bone-chilling.
In general, The Dalek stories from the 60s are top notch (I even think The Chase is a lot of fun.) So this episode also being brilliant is no surprise. Its a great climax for the Daleks in the 60s. And I know they will be gone for awhile.
Y’know, I rewatched this for the first time in a while and I realized that I thought the beginning bit set in the 60’s wasn’t as bad as I thought it was, and now, I can say with certainty that this is my favorite story.
I feel like they should not be putting “…of the Daleks” in the title of serials that have the presence of the daleks as a surprise twist
How many of these traps can be hidden in one house?
There’s also reasoning by deduction via the five gross senses of sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell: deduction. Jamie stepped on a board that gave and through memory and deduction, knew it was a trigger. I’m not sure that defines instinct exactly, but the memory circuits could almost be called in sum an “instinct”. Not the kind whereby a newborn knows to suckle at a mother’s teat, but close.
The newborn turtle doesn’t move towards the ocean by any factor of experience or deduction therefrom. Experience is non-existent for them. That’s true instinct.
Baby humans do have instinct. They immediately begin muscular action of their tongues to create suction at their mother’s breasts. Nothing but finger sucking in the womb precedes that. That is instinct in the womb preparatory to the external act. Not based on any external presage from experience, pure cellular knowing: instinct.
I like how Jaime is NOT putting up with the Doctor’s crap in this one.
I never thought Daleks could be adorable.
